About Us
The Dolomite Review is a quarterly literary magazine for readers who love a great story—fiction, poetry, and essays that linger long after the last line. We publish work that resonates; stories that earn your attention through depth, honesty, and craft.
Rooted in Michigan and steeped in the spirit of the Midwest, The Dolomite Review brings you writing that captures the subtle tensions of place and people—the rust belt cities, the wind-battered shorelines, the endless fields and small towns where stillness speaks volumes. It’s about the unsaid, the nearly forgotten, the moment just before everything changes.
If you’re drawn to stories that reveal themselves slowly, that live in accumulation and echo, that carry the weight of time and place, you’ll find them here.
The name The Dolomite Review is inspired by the dolomite rock formations of Drummond Island, located off the coast of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in Lake Huron. These ancient, weathered stones reflect the kind of writing we strive to publish: grounded, layered, and quietly powerful.
Our Mission
At The Dolomite Review, our mission is to bring readers the ultimate storytelling experience and to elevate emerging American voices—especially those rooted in or writing about the Midwest—through the publication of thoughtful, original fiction, poetry, and essays.
We believe that the American interior holds a richness of perspective too often overlooked in mainstream literary culture. Our goal is to provide a platform for work that captures the quiet intensity, emotional depth, and cultural complexity of Midwestern life, while also welcoming writing that pushes beyond borders and conventions.
By championing new writers and authentic regional storytelling, we aim to foster a literary community that values craft, curiosity, and the enduring power of place.
