Issue One Theme: Firsts
The theme of our inaugural issue is new beginnings and firsts —first steps, first frost, first love, first loss. The first time you left home. The first time you came back. We’re interested in beginnings that don’t announce themselves. We want the quiet moments before or after the turning point—the kind that only feel like a “first” when you look back.
This theme is a guide, not a rule. Interpret it loosely. Surprise us. We are looking for great storytelling and voices we’ll want to come back to. If that might be you, send us your work.
Submissions are rolling. However, to meet the deadline for our debut issue, please submit before October 31. Notice of acceptance or rejection will be sent after November 1. We accept fiction, poetry, and first-person essays. At this time, there is no payment for work submitted. Submission fee is $3.50. If your work is accepted, we request first electronic rights as well as the right to archive your work on our website and to use your work, with credit given to you as the author. Otherwise, upon publication, all rights revert back to the author under the condition that you will credit The Dolomite Review as the original publisher should your work be republished. The Dolomite Review is an online-only publication.
