Y
JoAnna Scandiffio
I don’t write to confess
I ate the apple
or theorize why
rain falls on a sunny day
or bear witness to a young girl
asleep on the sidewalk
without shoes
while all those passersby
eat ice cream
nor do I translate
love as miracle
I write because
my hand needs a pen
to catch my voice
in free fall
